  Company Background

SGA Polymers, LLC formed as a spin-off from MATRIC in August, 2010 with the specific mission of developing and commercializing technology invented for conversion of lactic acid to acrylic acid. Initial technology demonstration has been completed, and further development is in progress.

SGA now has a quality leadership team in place and is developing partnerships for supply of raw materials for the process. The company is also seeking additional funding to complete the process development and demonstration.

Capabilities and Resources

SGA has access to capabilities within the Mid-Atlantic Technology, Research and Innovation Center, Inc. (MATRIC). This organization brings a broad array of other technical, scientific experience in the acrylics business and in the scale-up of processes from bench to full commercial scale.
